Between 2021 and 2022 I made 3D-printable travel versions of various traditional board games.
The whole series started off with a “Raumschiffe Versenken”, the classical battleship game but with spaceships, as a 7th birthday gift to twins. I got inspired by a design on thingiverse and went from there to end up with this BattleFleet Star Wars: Rebels vs. the Empire . Their Mom got the Spaceballs Expansion Pack a little later, and their older sister a codebreaker game, also known as “Mastermind”. With the latter I am not yet satisfied and might try to improve at a later point.
A year later I added 3 more games to mix, all christmas presents to my family.
A Sudoku for Dad (so he doesn’t have to waste so much paper anymore)
A Mahjong for Mum (that she doesn’t need to stare on the computer screen all the time anymore to play)
A Royal Game of Ur (also known as Senet) for my brother (because I didn’t knew what else, and I have been interested in this old Egyptian board game since my internships at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe – when I still worked on becoming the next Indiana Jones….)
I released them as open source models. Just follow the links if you want to print your own!
They can all be 3D-printed on a single extruder printer. The colour changes where done by switching the filament at certain layers (just follow the instructions on each printables entry).
